Steel Breakthroughs: Kollerö Bruk's Century-defining Journey

Situated between Uddevalla and Vänersborg, Kollerö Bruk, built in 1725, was the first steel mill in Västsverige. Strategically located on the border between Västergötland and Bohuslän, the mill stood out due to its unique stone coal fuel instead of wood charcoal, and it was fed by Rådanefors Bruk's iron ore, established the same year. By the mid-19th century, Kollerö housed a few steel mills. Its coke production had a global reputation, but steel production ceased in 1893.
