The forgotten fortification in Eketės hill

Situated on the right bank of Eketės river, near the confluence with Dangės – Akmenos upe, Eketės hill is a formidable structure rising 8-9 meters tall. With a quadrant shape and width of 110 x 105 meters, the hill is encircled by ancient stone walls, remnants of its past as a fortified settlement. The archaeological site surrounding the hill covers an area of 6 hectares. Artifacts such as coins, jewelry, iron tools, stone objects, pottery, and wooden remains were found at the Eketės hill. A burial was also found at the archaeological site surrounding the hill.
