The chapel hidden among the mountains

The ruins of the Mare de Déu de la Serreta, a Romanic chapel, hide among the rocks of Conca de Dalt in Pallars Jussà, 1km south-east of the village of Claverol. Despite its obscurity, the chapel was highly respected in the village and was the former seat of the parish of Claverol. Its accessible position among the sea of rocks made it both a sanctuary and the setting for popular prayers dedicated to the Mare de Déu de la Serreta. The chapel, though a single-nave structure with a semi-circular apse to the east, was dated to the late 11th century based on the stones used, which were well-cut and regularly arranged in fillets. However, finding the chapel can be challenging due to its remote location.
