El Palomar is an archaeological site of a Celtiberian settlement located in Aragoncillo, a district of Corduente, Guadalajara, Spain. It is included in the Inventory of the Cultural Patrimony of Castilla-La Mancha but is not conditioned for visit.
El Palomar, dating from the Iron Age, is situated half a kilometer south of Aragoncillo. It stands at about thirty meters with gentle slopes, save for the north-facing slope, formed by a rocky outcrop. The area is characterized by being partially terraced due to agricultural activities. The vegetation, consisting of scrubland and scattered sabanas, reduces the visibility of the ground. The excavated remains describe a Celtiberian settlement with a powerful perimeter wall to which various structures of rectangular habitation are attached, formed by a base of masonry with a recrecido of tapial. In some structures, internal structures such as furnaces or hearths are observed, with up to three phases of occupation documented.
The first phase corresponds to the Early Celtiberian period. This phase is poorly known due to the high degree of alteration, but a wall is documented, inside of which some tracts of wall belonging to structures of angular plant destroyed by a severe fire are located.
