On the 19th of September, 1973, we lost Mister Parsons - the outlaw minstrel we held dear. His crew, including his right-hand man, Michael Martin, and his longtime sweetheart, Margaret Fisher, were along for the ride. They'd partied the day away, swirling cocktails and creative concoctions. While the man himself retreated to Joshua Tree National Park, his favorite laid-back escape, to lay down tracks for his latest album. For a while now, he'd made it clear he desired a unique demise: a clinical cremation followed by the spread of his ashes within the very same Joshua Tree National Park, a spot he held close to his heart. Phil Kaufman, his dedicated road manager, was all set to make that dream a reality. But the plan was about to take a turn for the unpredictable.
