The Cau d’en Calvet, located in Torroella de Montgrí and part of the Montgrí Massif, is a sepulchral cave. Discovered accidentally by Marcel·lí Calvet in March 1976, excavations in 1977 and 1978 revealed 43 individuals and associated artifacts including 11 ceramic vessels, 8 lithic coarse stones, 9 pendants, 2 bone needles, 1 curculla, 1 dentalium, 1 spear, and 3 lithic pieces. The remains found in Cau d’en Calvet date between the Neolithic final and the Calcolithic. The remains comprised 33 adults and 10 infants, one of them a newborn. The remains were not found in anatomical connection. Excavations revealed osteophytes and long bone abnormalities. Dental problems such as caries and abscesses in a maxilla were observed.
