Portlandia ain't your everyday city emblem. The city of Portland gave the green light to this colossal copper lady in 1985, standin' tall at 34 feet 10 inches. Her sculptor, a fella named Raymond Kaskey, played a bit of sleight-of-hand, dippin' into Maryland and the capital district's wallets to fund this project. Carryin' this bad boy to Portland, Oregon, was no walk in the park – each section was shuffled about before findin' its final home. All told, $228,000 of public funds and an extra $100,000 from private folk were put down for this coppersmith venture. Quite a payday, eh?
