Circle of White Birches

The "Belye Berezy" district is the largest and most remote in Pavlovsk. For 25 years, the landscaping of this area was overseen by the master of garden art, Pietro Gonzago. To create picturesque landscapes — beautiful meadows and distant vistas — he had to cut down forests, and in some cases, plant trees.

The "White Birches" district is the largest and most remote area in Pavlovsk. For 25 years, the garden art master Pietro Gonzago worked on designing this section. To create picturesque landscapes—beautiful meadows and distant vistas—he had to cut down forests and, in some cases, plant trees.

In the center of the "White Birches" district, the garden master created a charming area called the Circle of White Birches. By planting 18 birches around the circumference and one birch in the center, Pietro Gonzago created a true work of landscape art.

From this area, like rays, he arranged alleys (Lipetskaya, Black Hat Alley, Rose Pavilion Alley, White Sultan Alley, and Booth Alley) leading to a wider circular alley. Along the edge of the area, there is a path with benches for resting.

Unfortunately, the central birch has not survived to this day; it dried up. However, the composition of the Circle of White Birches—a round dance of white-trunked beauties—continues to delight visitors to the Pavlovsk Park just as it did 200 years ago.
