Satrianum, an ancient Lucanian center situated **on a hill in the communes of Tito and Satriano di Lucania**, was a strategic Norman stronghold and bishopric seat, first mentioned in medieval sources in the 9th century. Built overlooking the Brienza pass and the ancient Herculea road, it was rebuilt by Carlo D’Angiò. John de Anches and the Sforza family owned Satrianum until its abandonment in the 15th century. Today, the medieval settlement of Satrianum is open to the public. Two defensive walls, villages with residential buildings, and a church with an adjacent cemetery are visible at the site. A square tower from the 12th century can be visited on the summit, converted into a museum. The remains of a bishopric and the Cathedral of St. Stephen are found on the summit.
