The Gargantuan, Saffron Colossus of Beaverton: Oregon's Unwanted Guest

In 2010, the Beaverton skyline was tainted by Richard Taylor's vibrant entry, Singing Sky – a 15-foot sculpture not welcoming climbers.

2010 witnessed an unusual event in Beaverton, Oregon. Richard Taylor, a Wisconsin native, brought Singing Sky to Beaverton City Park. This 15-foot, gaudy saffron sculpture was among the 200 projects selected by the Beaverton Arts Commission, tasked to enrich the park with thoughtful, open art. Clad in a bright burnt orange, Singing Sky champions diversity and enforces a hushed zone – a 'Do Not Disturb' order, as requested by Taylor himself. Beware.
