A medieval mystery: The Castle Ruins of Sant Joan de l'Espluga de Viu

Sant Joan de l'Espluga de Viu, or simply Viu, was a Benedictine priory of Romanesque origin, situated near the modern-day town of Viu de Llevata. However, the exact location of the priory remains controversial, with two prevailing theories. Some historians suggest it could be found on a rocky outcrop, where a castle once stood. Another theory points to a location north of Viu de Llevata, in the Espluga or Solà, where remnants of a large, rectangular building - believed to be the church - can be found by following the medieval path as it climbs the first slopes of the Monevui serrat.
