Owls of the Barsova Income House

Right at the entrance of this house, an owl awaits you.

The massive heavyweight portals are decorated with reliefs depicting owls and lions. 

Previously, on the fourth floor, there was the apartment of the famous writer Maxim Gorky, where he lived from 1914 until his departure to Italy in 1923. Editorial meetings, gatherings of actors and directors took place in his apartment. Visitors included Bunin, Mayakovsky, Chukovsky, Shalyapin, Kuprin, and even the English science fiction writer Herbert Wells stayed here.
