Portland's Quirky Nepenthes on Northwest Davis: A Stroll through Old Town

Fancy a unique jaunt through Portland, Oregon? Take a walk down Northwest Davis Street, Old Town Chinatown, and you'll stumble upon some peculiar sci-fi-inspired sights. Back in 2013, our mate Dan Corson, the architect of these oddities, placed them along Northwest Davis. They're not everyone's cup of tea, resembling lost props from a high school 'Little Mermaid' production.

So, you've got these Nepenthes - nicknamed 'Nebbies' - standing proudly on Northwest Davis, between the Fifth and Eighth Avenues in Portland, Oregon. These unusual structures popped up in the cityscape back in 2013, with another strange addition, the Nepenthes Paisleyi, appearing a bit later in the Paisley district of Edmonton. The Nepenthes Paisleyi, if you're curious, comes equipped with sensors that get all giddy with the night's antics, expressing themselves through a lively light show after dark, all in response to any nearby movements.
