Borgö/Borgebacke fornborg, located in the western part of Västerslät, Kläckeberga parish in Kalmar county, Sweden, is an intriguing archaeological site. The site's current name, Borgeberg, is a 1941 inventory designation, while it was previously known as Borgö backe on older maps. The smaller islands surrounding Borgebacke, 'Borgö backarna', are thought to form part of the fortress. It is speculated that the parish Kläckeberga takes its name from the fortress, as 'Borg' and 'berg' are etymologically the same words. On modern maps, the site is described as an oval fortress spanning 70x45 meters in east-west direction, positioned some 10 meters above sea level.
