The first shootings in Kėdainiai (125 people)

The Eger report states that the first victims in Kedainiai were 95 Jews, 14 communists who came from the USSR, 1 Soviet officer, and 15 Lithuanian communists. These 125 people were shot in the village of Baleno II near Kedainiai (approximately 3 kilometers from the city center). The perpetrators were the Rollkommando Hamann, 1st Battalion, 3rd Group. A monument to the executed was erected in 1957. It reads: "At this place, Hitler’s murderers and their local accomplices killed 125 Jews – men and women – on July 28, 1942."
