Eagle's Tale: Sippin' suds, honorin' heroes at Milwaukee's Miller Valley

Sit back, crack open a cold one under the watchful gaze of a real American bald eagle, saluting six Miller Brewery workers who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II. Miller Valley Veterans Monument, Milwaukee.

Here in this dairy town's heart, you'll find a genuinely remarkable sight - the Miller Valley Veterans Monument. Crafted by artist Thomas Queoff, it's a tribute to six ordinary folks, Miller Brewery workers who showed extraordinary bravery in World War II. Expect the ordinary pairing of history and hoppiness with each beer. Don't miss it! This life-like eagle, perched atop three beer barrels, tells a story of their valiant deeds. The names and ranks of the Six, chiseled in stone, wait for your gaze at the base.

The monument, raised in 2010, can be found right at the Miller Brewing Company Visitor Center, nestled snugly with State Street, west of downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The dedication ceremony was a somber occasion, with production paused for two hours on November 11th, 2010. A 21-gun salute, a moment of silence, and even a flyby by a World War II military plane added an air of solemnity. Among the attendees were 500 veterans who received a commemorative coin and Frederick Miller's granddaughter, who placed the first wreath at the monument. Swing by for a taste of history and a chilled brew. Cheers to the Six!
