Located on Nasser Road in Lusaka, the Lusaka National Museum covers the history and culture of the nation. While China began working with Zambia in the 1980s to create a museum dedicated to Zambian independence, the museum's focus changed to cultural history by the time it officially opened to the public in October 1996.
The museum has two floors. The ground floor contains an archaeological and historical section with information from the Stone Age three million years ago up to modern Zambia. This section includes pottery, tools, and ornaments.
On the next floor, a contemporary art gallery features sculptures and paintings. The museum serves as a dedicated space for the history and culture of the Zambian people.
