The Cerrada de Los Santos, located in Aragoncillo, Corduente, Guadalajara, Spain, is an archaeological site that dates back to the Celtiberian period. The Cerrada de Los Santos is a necropolis, a burial ground for the ancient people who lived here, believed to belong to giants - people who were significantly taller than the average Celtiberians of that time.
Two usage phases were observed. The first corresponds to the Early Celtiberian period (around the 6th century BC). In this phase, cremations were direct deposits in a hole dug in the ground. Urns for ashes and stone tumuli structures were also found. The graves were adorned with metal objects, especially weapons, and offerings were made on platforms with an abundance of animal remains and metal objects.
The second phase corresponds to the Middle Celtiberian period (3rd and 2nd centuries BC). In this phase, cremations were contained in urns for ashes without a lid. A silicernium, a ritual silo, was found where offerings were primarily liquids, as evidenced by the large number of jars and cups.
Despite not being prepared for tourist visits, the Cerrada de Los Santos offers a glimpse into the lives of the ancient Celtiberians who once roamed these lands.
