Boston's North End, a spot bursting with its winding streets and delectable Italian aromas, is a captivating charm. One landmark, however, stands out and draws unexpected glances. It's not fame or beauty that's captivating, but a fella hailing from New York City. That man's none other than Tony DeMarco, the Godfather of the Italian-American boxing world, although he didn't shine in the Big Apple's glare, but the North End of Boston honors a piece of his history following a 2012 unveiling of a bronze statue in his likeness. A bronze statue – it stands there, a salute to a man who was just as zesty as mustard and gutsy as the neighborhood he now calls crib.
