Amid the stones: a 9th-century Romanesque chapel in Mas de Prior

Sant Joan Evangelista del Masenc, a 9th-century Romanesque chapel, lies nestled among graves in a serene cemetery, part of Fígols de Tremp, a village now integrated into Tremp, in Pallars Jussà. Today, the chapel stands as ruins, echoing the history it bears. Another chapel, advocated to Sant Sebastià, can be found in the same masia. The region's history is further testified by the works of Josep M. Gavín written about Sant Joan Evangelista del Masenc in 1981, and M. Pagès' documentation of Tremp and Fígols de la Conca in 1984.
