Auadhara is a balneological resort in the northwest of Abkhazia, in the Gudauta district, 18 kilometers from Lake Ritsa. The boarding house is located at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level and is known for its mineral springs.
The study of this area began in 1927. More than 100 mineral spring outlets were surveyed, among which carbonic-alkaline mineral waters attracted attention due to their physicochemical properties. The Auadhara mineral spring is distinguished by a high content of free carbon dioxide and a lower content of chlorides. From 1930 to 1946, treatment of gastrointestinal patients was conducted in specially organized departments in Gagra and Sukhumi using bottled Auadhara mineral water brought in from outside. In 1947, the Institute of Balneology of the Abkhaz ASSR organized the first scientific research expedition to determine the influence of the climate and balneological factors of Auadhara on cardiovascular diseases. Between 1947 and 1950, four expeditions to Auadhara were organized.
Since 1957, the Auadhara boarding house with 200 beds has been operating under the jurisdiction of the trade unions of Abkhazia. However, after the collapse of the USSR in the early 1990s, it was abandoned. With the establishment of the Ritsa Relict National Park in 1996, the Auadhara tract and boarding house became part of it. Sanatorium and resort treatment services are currently not provided. Tourist stays at the Auadhara boarding house are associated with active types of tourism. Currently, two mineral water outlets are equipped on the territory of Auadhara. Visitors can drink water directly from mineral spring No. 1. Water from spring No. 2 is transported to Sukhumi to a mineral water bottling plant.

In addition, the air here is clean, rich in negatively charged ions, sea salts, and oxygen. The resort can be reached via a broken asphalt road, either by car, on foot, by bicycle, on horseback, or even by helicopter. From the meadow, cluttered with a mix of tourist tents and half-ruined resort buildings, the Russian border is already visible.

The film "Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson," episode "Deadly Duel," was shot in this complex, where it "played the role" of a hotel in Meiringen (exterior shots). Interior scenes were filmed in Pushkin at the dacha of Grand Duke Boris Vladimirovich.
