Arbottna: Unveiling a Prehistoric Past at Sweden's Medieval Manor

Arbottna, a manor situated on Muskö in Stockholms södra skärgård, is steeped in a history that spans beyond its 1790s main building. Archaeological evidence suggests that the site was inhabited in prehistoric times, with a grave field containing over a dozen tumuli found approximately 525 meters north of Arbottna. In the 16th century, the area was part of one of the medieval Swedish king's estates. It is believed that a trusted king's man was the first settler on the farm. Arbottna was one of three farms listed in the Geometrical Surveys in 1638 (Norrgården, Sörgården, and Mellangården).
