M.K. Pokotilova Mansion

The mansion of M.K. Pokotilova was built in 1910 in the Neo-Renaissance style. The architect was M.S. Lyalevich.

This elegant mansion in the Neo-Renaissance style, reminiscent of Italian villas, attracts attention with its beautiful decorative finishing details. It is located at the intersection of Kamennoostrovsky Prospect and the embankment of the Karpovka River and is styled as an Italian villa.

At the entrance, there is a sculpture of boys with a lantern; above the windows are two identical bas-reliefs — marble copies by the Italian sculptor Luca della Robbia titled "The Singers" (1431) from the sacristy of the Florentine cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore. The composition illustrates Psalm 150: "Praise God in His sanctuary..."

The facade is separated from the sidewalk by a small fence consisting of granite spheres on posts connected by a single rod. The fastenings are made in the form of small metal snakes.

The mansion belonged to Maria Konstantinovna Pokotilova, whose family lived here, while the adjacent income house was rented out; in the 1910s, the philosophical society "New Man" operated at this address. Since 1921, the mansion has housed the Scientific Land Reclamation Institute, established by decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR. Currently, it houses the Interdistrict Medical and Physical Culture Dispensary No. 1.

Inside, some historical interiors and finishing elements have been partially preserved.
