Nemesio Álvarez Sánchez's First Flight at Galicia's Abandoned Aeródromo da

The Aeródromo da Canosa, located on the Isla Canosa in the Miño's estuary, was the first aerodrome of Galicia. In 1930, the first plane to lift off from the Aeródromo da Canosa was piloted by Nemesio Álvarez Sánchez, son of the alcalde of Guarda. This marked a new era for aviation in Galicia. On August 18, 1934, the airfield was visited by 23 planes from Xetafe. However, its usage was short-lived, with records indicating the last known usage occurred in 1956.
