The Oregon Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Hoyt Arboretum

The Oregon Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Hoyt Arboretum

An 8-acre outdoor memorial in Portland's Washington Park honors Oregonians who served in the Vietnam War.

As you stroll through the Hoyt Arboretum, you'll find the Oregon Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This tribute is a memorial to Oregonians who served in the Vietnam War. Inspired by visits to the national Vietnam Veterans Memorial by five veterans and the parents of a Marine killed in Vietnam, the memorial was designed by the landscape architecture firm Walker Macy.

The construction labor and materials were almost entirely volunteer donations. The memorial features a unique font called Hoyt, created specifically for the memorial by Janis Price in recognition of the Arboretum.

Nestled among the World Forestry Center and the Oregon Zoo, the memorial is conveniently located near the International Rose Test Garden and the Portland Japanese Garden. The nearby trail system links to Forest Park, and the memorial is easily accessible via U.S. Route 26 and Portland's MAX light rail system, which has a station in Washington Park.
