Several years ago, the STS TV channel produced a program called "History in Details." The mythical courtyard in the income house of L. E. Koenig was described by singer and host Svetlana Surganova. The segment was short, but the magic of this historic spot captivated viewers so much that the Courtyard of Spirits instantly became popular. Crowds of people came to see the mysterious place where wishes come true and miracles happen.
But the Courtyard of Spirits on Vasilievsky Island was not accessible to everyone. Some could not find its address, others could not get inside, and some turned back halfway, fearing to get into trouble.
The iconic Courtyard of Spirits in Saint Petersburg is a small inner courtyard measuring 2.5 by 1.5 meters. A small window looks up to the sky. The windows have a special story. In the houses, they are installed on three walls. Once, the courtyard, around which legends circulate, belonged to the income house of the "sugar king" Leopold Egorovich Koenig, built in the late 1870s.
Later, the famous artist Nicholas Roerich moved here. Rumors about his fascination with mysticism are still alive. Some researchers of St. Petersburg mysteries believe that the spirits inhabiting the courtyard on V. O. have remained since the time the great master painter lived there. Now they protect the peace of the island’s residents.
Perhaps it is these spirits that help the most cherished dreams come true. For this to happen, visitors stand in the center of the well-like courtyard, make a wish, look up, and mentally release it into the heavens. It is said that hopes will come true if the mysterious Courtyard of Spirits wishes to accept its guest and open its doors to them. Such things happen here too.
