In the heart of Garden Valley, Lincoln County, USA, City stands tall – a unique land art sculpture like no other. Crafted over 50 years with resilience, estimated to cost around $40 million, it represents the largest contemporary artwork ever built. The Triple Aught Foundation is entrusted with its preservation. Inspired by Michael Heizer's journeys to Yucatan and Chichen Itza, City endeavors to bridge the divide between ancient monuments, minimalism, and industrial technology.
With support from various patrons, including the Dia Art Foundation and Lannan Foundation, the sculpture boasts five phases and structures reaching heights of 80 feet. Made using local dirt, rock, sand, and concrete, it was introduced into the Basin and Range National Monument in 2015, following the Garden Valley Withdrawal Act initiated by U.S. Senator Harry Reid in 2014. To witness this installation, reservations can be made through the Triple Aught Foundation.
Residents of Lincoln, Nye, and White Pine Counties in Nevada can enjoy free admission, while non-residents are asked to pay $150.
