The Estepona bullfighting arena is neither the oldest nor the largest in Spain, but nevertheless, it is unique. It is the only asymmetrical bullring in the world. Its elliptical shape was conceived by the architect Juan Mora Urbano. This choice is explained by the desire to offer spectators more shaded areas, which is very relevant in the hot Spanish climate. The arena was opened in 1972 and serves as a venue not only for bullfighting but also for many sports and cultural events.
