The third meeting of the WWII “Big Three”

Im Neuen Garten, 14469 Potsdam, Germany

Cecilienhof Palace (Schloss Cecilienhof) is the place where the most important decisions affecting the shape of post World War II Europe were made.

It was here that Josef Stalin, Winston Churchill (later replaced by Clement Attlee), and Harry Truman gathered during the summer of 1945 to decide how to administer Germany, which several weeks earlier had agreed to unconditional surrender. The event became known as The Potsdam Conference and was the third and the last meeting of “The BigThree” -  the leaders of the three great Allied powers of WWII. The goals of the conference also included the establishment of postwar order, peace treaty issues, and countering the effects of the war.

Cecilienhof has been part of the Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.
