Sergey Dovlatov is one of those writers who managed to preserve history in their works. But to truly feel the complexity of the fates of Soviet writers and ordinary people, it is often not enough to read even the greatest literary work. Fortunately, there are still, one might even say miraculously preserved, tangible witnesses of that era.
Thanks to them, today we can not only imagine but also see the conditions in which the tour guide Sergey Dovlatov lived in the summer of 1977.
Here it is — a witness of the era, a monument to it. It darkens against the backdrop of the Central Russian plain. And it seems as if it is untouched by time. Its roof is caved in, the walls are leaning in several directions. It is frightening to look at it, but this is the most famous house in the village of Berezino because the Russian writer Sergey Dovlatov lived in it, albeit for a very short time.
