Punta Brava, Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, Spain
Punta Brava means Brave Point in Spanish. And not without a reason. The coastline is very rough here, made of submerged rocks with pointy edges that are invisible or emerge too late for a ship to safely manage her way through the dangerous waters. No wonder the sailing routes did not go anywhere near. The normal ones, that is.
Such dangerous deserted spots away from the curious eyes were well known to and used by the pirates. Navigating here was a huge risk which they were ready to take if they wanted to get ashore undetected. Punta Brava was one of such spots that could be used to sneak into the town or as a safe hiding place.
