The filming took place entirely on the premises of the mentioned hotels, which were delighted to collaborate with Sofia Coppola.
The hotel was inaugurated in 1896 as the Hotel du Nord, with the slogan "perfectly positioned less than ten minutes by carriage from the famous Teatro alla Scala". In April 1927, it changed its name to the Hotel Principe di Savoia.
Since its opening, Principe di Savoia has been known to host notable guests and celebrities such as Edward VIII, Erich Maria Remarque, Aristotle Onassis, Evita Peron, Maria Callas, Charlie Chaplin, Josephine Baker, David Rockefeller, Elizabeth Taylor, Henry Ford, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Woody Allen, President George H. W. Bush, Bill Gates, Madonna, George Clooney and David and Victoria Beckham.
